Shipping and parcel carriers

A ceramics studio in the Salzkammergut sells tableware online. Domestic parcels travel with the Austrian Post, German ones with DPD, and a handful of loyal buyers live in Switzerland. Each morning someone keys addresses into the carriers' web portals, prints labels individually and copies tracking codes into emails by hand. The Swiss commercial invoice goes missing time and again, so parcels stall at the border and the recipient faces charges she did not see coming. Add breakages, because porcelain needs more care than a T-shirt. We link your shop with the carriers so buyers see true postage and their preferred delivery choice before checkout, the packing bench prints the whole day's labels with a single click, and tracking codes, customs paperwork and returns move along without anyone rekeying them.

Everything this covers

Most shops end up with two or three carriers. Buyers get a choice, and the busy weeks before Christmas do not hinge on a single network.

Carriers

Austrian Post, DPD, GLS, DHL and UPS, integrated through each carrier's own API or through shipping platforms such as Sendcloud or Shipcloud when you prefer one dashboard and one invoice.

Postage in the basket

Worked out from real or dimensional weight, destination and service, and displayed before the buyer types in an address. Bulky and breakable goods attract their own surcharges.

Pickup points and lockers

A map listing Post parcel lockers and Post Partner outlets, DPD Pickup shops or GLS ParcelShops around the delivery address, including opening times, with the selection written into the order.

Batch labels

Every paid order from the morning printed in one go on a label or A4 printer, together with a manifest for the collecting driver.

Customs for Switzerland and Liechtenstein

Commercial invoice, tariff codes and declared value drawn from product data, and a clear note of whether duties are payable on arrival or already settled. For larger volumes, a connection to your customs broker or the Austrian e-zoll system.

Tracking

Each tracking code is saved against its order and emailed to the buyer. Delivery issues such as an incorrect house number surface as an alert for your team before they become a complaint.

Returns

Buyers generate a return label themselves via a form keyed to the order number. The warehouse knows what is on its way back, and stock is rebooked once the item has been checked.

Our working method

No basket calculates correctly without accurate weights and dimensions. So every shipping project begins with product data and only then turns to the interfaces.

01

Analysis

Parcel sizes, destinations, share of pickup-point deliveries, return rate and your existing carrier agreements.

02

Contracts and API keys

We help you obtain technical credentials from each carrier or open an account on the shipping platform.

03

Set-up

Item weights and sizes, packing rules, a free-delivery threshold and surcharges for bulky goods, fragile goods and customs destinations.

04

Test parcels

Genuine shipments with every carrier, followed from label to doorstep, plus at least one return.

Before the first parcel to Switzerland, decide who pays the import charges. If goods travel duty unpaid, the recipient faces import VAT, possibly duty and a carrier handling fee, often as an unwelcome surprise. If you ship duty paid, those costs are yours and you need an arrangement for Swiss VAT. Either route works, but the choice belongs at the start, made with your tax adviser and stated clearly in the basket.

Frequently asked questions

A sensible rule of thumb is a figure just above your average basket, so buyers add one more item. We analyse your orders, show how many fall just short of the threshold and work out what the limit costs in postage and brings in as revenue.

With packing rules per item, a surcharge for elaborate packaging and insurance for valuable consignments. The shop records which products need which packaging, so nobody at the packing bench has to guess.

Your team files the claim with the carrier, and we make that easier: shipment data, the buyer's photos and the item's packing rule sit together on the order, and a replacement shipment can be triggered with one click.

No. We deliver software and configuration, entirely by remote access. Packing and handing parcels to the driver stay with your warehouse or logistics partner; our part is making labels, tracking codes and status updates flow without manual work.
