Manufacturing

Every minute a production line stands still costs real money. Picture it: a job ticket that never shows up at the machining centre, a label printer leaving off the customer's part number, an MES that has gone silent. Operators wait, pallets pile up at dispatch, and tomorrow's delivery slips as a result. Apply keeps your servers, ERP and networking in shape through remote access, draws a firm line between office systems and the plant floor, and, with the round-the-clock support option, answers tickets from the night shift too. Our team never walks through your factory gates, and experience shows it hardly ever has to.

Our area of responsibility

Settings, systems, data flows and protection are ours. Cables, switch cabinets and the terminals mounted beside each machine remain the territory of your in-house technicians or electrical contractor. They get written instructions from us and, if it helps, an Apply engineer on screen while they work.

Separate worlds for admin and shop floor

We lay out network zones, draft the rule set for your firewall and roll it out remotely. After that, a controller, an operator panel or a line computer can only reach the handful of systems it depends on. Our write-up follows IEC 62443 and is structured so it doubles as evidence for NIS2 and for audits by your own customers.

ERP you can count on

It might be BMD, Mesonic WinLine, SAP Business One, Dynamics 365 Business Central or Odoo, hosted in your server room or with a cloud provider. Either way, the underlying machine, its database, the backup routine, updates and user rights are in our hands. Planned downtime is coordinated with whoever implements your ERP, and it is kept well away from period-end closing and annual stock counts.

Closing the loop between office and line

Jobs are passed from the ERP to the MES or to data-capture terminals at the machines, and counts, rejects and consumed material are reported the other way. We create these links and keep an eye on them, so no supervisor has to key in numbers from a paper docket as the shift ends. Imagine a CNC shop that records changeover times twice over: afterwards the terminals feed them in directly.

Constant watch on hardware and links

Our monitoring covers switches, firewalls, servers and every scheduled backup. Should the connection to the finished-goods store fail at 2:40, an alert fires straight away. With round-the-clock support, the Apply engineer on standby knows well before anyone on the night shift spots a problem.

Controlled access for equipment makers

An OEM technician servicing your press has no business anywhere near payroll. So instead of the always-on remote tool somebody set up long ago, the OEM receives a session that is time-boxed, restricted to one zone, fully recorded and shut down without anyone having to remember.

Early, late and night shifts treated alike

Book round-the-clock support and a fault logged in the small hours is handled too, weekends and production holidays included. The response times for this are set out in your contract. Without it, our standard hours apply: Monday to Friday, 8:00-17:00 Austrian time.

Our way of working

Anything that touches the plant network waits for a scheduled shutdown or service window. While a job is on the machines, we leave well alone.

01

Assessment at a distance

We scan the network, go through the firewall configuration and catalogue everything around the ERP. Then we sit down on video with your head of production to learn which processes must never pause.

02

Segmentation blueprint

This document shows how admin and production are divided, which traffic may cross, which devices should be cut off immediately and when each change will happen relative to your shutdown calendar.

03

Rolling it out piece by piece

Changes go live remotely, a single hall or line per step. Where a lead needs moving to a new port, your technician handles it with our checklist while we verify the effect in real time.

04

Business as usual

Alerting, patching inside agreed windows, a recurring look at firewall rules and OEM logins, and a support rota that mirrors your shifts.

Most ransomware reaches a factory via an email to procurement, not via the machinery. Splitting admin and production networks is therefore the single biggest win for plant security. Let us say a plastics moulder in Upper Austria, 80 people strong, opens a fake delivery note that carries a trojan. With tight zone rules there is a good chance it stops at the border, injection moulding carries on and only the office computers need restoring from backup.

Frequently asked questions

Quite possibly. The Directive lists a number of manufacturing branches, among them machinery, motor vehicles, electronics and chemicals; whether you are covered turns on what you make and how big you are, as set out in the Austrian NIS Act. A lawyer should give the formal answer, fed with technical facts from us. Then we deliver the IT part: risk management, access control, incident handling and a working reporting path to CERT.at and the competent authority.

No. Controller programs, recipes and commissioning stay with the equipment supplier or your automation team. Our remit is networking, access, servers, ERP, integrations and their protection. We put this split in writing, so that when a line stops there is no debate over who should be alerted.

Yes, because the bulk of the job is software and configuration, which only needs an encrypted remote session. For the occasional physical task, say replacing a dead switch or re-patching a port, your technicians follow a written procedure with our engineer connected. In most cases that beats waiting half a day for a technician to make the journey.

Upgrading them is frequently off the table because the OEM software breaks on a newer operating system. Our answer is isolation: a dedicated network segment, no route to the internet, only the traffic that machine requires, disabled USB ports and a stored image of the drive. That keeps them productive until the manufacturer offers a supported release.

Not at all; it makes life simpler. Your consultant owns modules, reporting and user training, and we own the platform underneath: server, database, backup, speed and user accounts. We document who does what, so every upgrade starts with a clear answer to who readies the system and who rolls out the release.

Start begins at €890 per month plus VAT and covers up to 10 users. Business comes to €1,890 per month plus VAT, while Premium begins at €3,490 per month plus VAT. Ad hoc work not included in a plan is charged at €110 per hour plus VAT. Which package fits comes down to how many PCs you run, which hours need cover and how quickly your lines need someone to react.

Let us look at the IT in your plant

A few lines on your production halls, ERP and shift model are enough. Within one working day you will get our suggestion for the first step towards separate networks.
