Retail and e-commerce

Online buyers rarely complain. If a category page crawls or the eps button disappears from the payment step, they quietly leave for a competitor, and the only trace is a dip in your conversion graph. That is why, in e-commerce, the true price of a fault is lost baskets, not minutes of downtime. Apply ties together storefront, marketplaces, payment providers, couriers and accounting on shared data, and keeps the set-up steady from the opening hour of a sale until its close. We do all this remotely, so there is never a technician turning up at your shop or warehouse.

The building blocks

Six components decide whether an order moves from “buy now” to a sealed parcel untouched by human hands. For bricks-and-mortar sales, your cash register supplier or bank installs the till and payment terminal. Software, data flows and ongoing operation are our side, handled from a distance.

Your storefront

Shopware, WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento or JTL. We apply extension and theme updates, track load times on the pages that generate revenue, make backups we have actually restored, and analyse the checkout for points where buyers give up. Accessibility is included too, covering keyboard operation, colour contrast and labelled form fields, with the requirements of the Austrian Accessibility Act (BaFG) as our yardstick.

Selling on marketplaces

Amazon, Kaufland.at, Zalando, MediaMarkt Marktplatz and willhaben can be served through Channable, Productsup or a direct API link. Every listing comes from the same article master, all orders converge in one system, and as soon as something sells, its quantity drops on every channel.

Taking payment

eps online banking, cards, PayPal, Klarna, Apple Pay, Google Pay or buying on account, via Stripe or the payment service your bank provides. We connect it all and test 3-D Secure, refunds and webhook notifications, so that an order the customer has paid for does not linger as “unpaid” from Friday night until Monday.

Dispatch and returns

Shoppers choose a post office branch, parcel station or partner shop during checkout. Labels for Österreichische Post, DPD, GLS or DHL are generated from each order, a tracking email goes out to the customer, and a self-service returns page spares your support team endless correspondence.

Invoices and accounts

Each order produces its invoice, and B2B buyers can receive it as a structured e-invoice. Receipts from your RKSV-compliant register and marketplace revenue are gathered and passed into BMD, RZL or the ERP you use. Once a month your accountant gets a full package, with nobody exporting CSV files by hand.

Protecting shopper data

Recorded opt-ins for marketing emails, a consent banner that meets section 165 of the Telecommunications Act 2021, signed processing agreements with each tool that handles customer records, and two-factor login on every back-office account. An erasure request from a shopper is then dealt with in a few minutes instead of dragging on for days.

Four ways to lose a trading day

Anyone running an online store will know these scenarios. Heading them off is almost always cheaper than living through one of them.

Black Friday Your site collapses at peak traffic Avoidable with stress testing early and adding capacity beforehand
Overselling One item, two buyers Avoidable with a single shared inventory in place of spreadsheets passed around
Minutes Checkout stalls at the payment step Avoidable with end-to-end monitoring that includes the payment gateway
Trust Shopper records end up exposed Avoidable with timely updates, a WAF and a short list of full-rights admins

Your November results are settled in September. Stress tests, a freeze on major changes and an on-call list all need to be in place before the Black Friday campaigns go live. Exactly the same applies to the January and summer sales, which fall on predictable dates yet somehow always feel sudden. Consider a Salzburg retailer of children's clothing running on Shopware: its campaign calendar is agreed weeks in advance, so the busiest days are planned rather than improvised.

Frequently asked questions

Feed software is dependable only when it is set up carefully and monitored. We write the rules, map categories and order statuses, configure invoicing, and confirm each morning that no marketplace connection has quietly expired overnight. When the ready-made connectors cannot do what you need, we code the integration ourselves.

For consumer-facing shops the answer is probably yes. Austria's BaFG implements the EU accessibility rules for products and services and applies to e-commerce, with certain carve-outs such as one for micro-enterprises. Have a lawyer confirm whether any exemption covers you. Practically, it means keyboard access, adequate contrast, image descriptions and a purchase flow usable to the last click, broadly the WCAG 2.1 AA level. We begin by auditing search, product pages and checkout, then improve the theme rather than rebuilding everything.

It pays off for plenty of brands, provided inventory and orders reconcile without manual effort. If they do not, you end up selling stock that has already gone, and cancellations damage your seller rating. Our usual route is to open one marketplace with a slice of the catalogue and add others only once things run smoothly.

That falls to your POS vendor and to the bank with which you signed the card acceptance agreement. Apply does not sell or install registers. Our job is to get the shop network ready and to link the online store with your POS so receipts and inventory figures reach the correct systems. We stay remote, but we are connected and available while you go live.

Yes, through round-the-clock support or the Premium plan. Those are precisely the days when order volume peaks and a failure does the most damage. For dates you choose, for example Black Friday, Cyber Monday, the final week before Christmas or day one of a sale, we agree in advance who is reachable and how issues are escalated.

As a rule it is, as long as all 301 redirects are defined in advance, high-traffic product URLs stay unchanged, and meta titles and descriptions are reviewed individually. We set up the replacement shop alongside the old one, move products, accounts and past orders across, and track search visibility closely afterwards. A sporting goods retailer switching from WooCommerce to Shopware could, say, go live on a Tuesday in February with no sale anywhere near.
