Hosting for web shops and web apps

Consider a Shopware store from Salzburg selling dirndls, lederhosen and accessories. Revenue rarely slips because of the range. It slips because a category page takes four seconds to appear on a mobile, because the export to Kaufland.at has been frozen since Saturday and nobody spotted it, or because someone installed a plugin update directly on the live store on Monday morning and knocked out the checkout. In-house web apps, such as a booking portal written in Laravel or a reseller area on Node.js, fare much the same: the code is often decent, but the environment beneath it was never set up with care. Our hosting is built for exactly these setups. We tune the server to your platform, keep a test copy separate from production, and check not merely that the site loads but that orders, feeds and background tasks actually complete.

Everything this covers

Every platform has its own weak spots. Shopware relies on working search and message queues, WooCommerce buckles under years of plugins, Magento devours memory, and custom apps suffer from ad hoc deployments. We shape the environment around yours.

Settle the details with an engineer

A maintained stack

Supported releases of PHP, Node.js, MariaDB or MySQL, OpenSearch powering shop search, Redis for sessions and caching, and web server limits set for your catalogue imports rather than left at the defaults.

Staging and releases

A clone of the store or app for trying out updates and new extensions. Changes go live through Git and a traceable release process, and rolling back to the previous version takes minutes.

Speed as a metric

Full-page cache, OPcache, images served as WebP or AVIF through a CDN. For your ten most visited pages we record mobile load times before and after the move, then track them month by month.

Eyes on background tasks

Feeds to Amazon, Kaufland.at or Zalando through Channable or Productsup, labels for Österreichische Post, DPD or GLS, exports into BMD or your stock system. If a task stalls, the alert comes to us rather than your shoppers finding out.

Guarding store and app

Back office reachable only via VPN or whitelisted addresses, TLS certificates renewed automatically, bot and attack filtering, extensions kept up to date. With the usual integrations, card details never reach the server; they are captured directly by Stripe, Klarna or your payment provider. The same applies to bank details for eps transfers.

Backups in step with orders

The database every few hours when orders come in daily, files overnight, a copy held away from the hosting provider, and routine restore drills in an isolated environment.

In-house web apps

Laravel, Symfony, Node.js or Docker containers: environment variables and secrets kept separate, queues and schedulers monitored, logs gathered centrally. A headless storefront for a Shopify store can live with us as well.

Our working method

A medium-sized store usually moves within one to two weeks. Most of the effort goes into integrations and scheduled tasks, hardly any into copying files.

01

Stocktake

Products and variants, installed extensions, cron jobs, connected systems, traffic figures and an initial measurement of where speed is currently being lost.

02

Fresh environment

Production and staging servers built, a clone of the store loaded, and a load test simulating a promotion to expose the extensions that drag.

03

Night-time switch

A final database sync and the DNS change during the quietest hours, typically the night into Tuesday, leaving weekend sales undisturbed.

04

First week live

A real test purchase paid by eps and by card, a printed shipping label, verified feeds and order emails, followed by a daily glance at error logs and page speed.

Never patch the live store directly. Shops rarely stall because of an attack or a hardware fault. Far more often the cause is a well-intentioned update: a new plugin, a Shopware release, a theme that someone refreshed “just quickly” before lunch. With us, every change lands on staging first, gets checked with a test order, and only then goes live, with a restore point taken immediately beforehand. That adds an hour and saves a lost day of trading.

Frequently asked questions

Not the store itself, because Shopify runs that infrastructure as part of its platform. If you operate a headless storefront or a companion app next to Shopify, perhaps a product configurator or a trade portal, we are glad to host and manage that part.

Yes, and that is the usual arrangement. Your agency or developer gets access to the Git repository and the staging copy, personal SSH keys instead of shared passwords, and a clear route for pushing changes live. We handle servers and operations; the agency handles features and design.

By working from your promotions calendar. Ahead of Black Friday, Advent or a mailing to tens of thousands of subscribers, we scale up a few days beforehand, pre-warm the cache and review the heaviest extensions. Once the rush is over, the server shrinks back to its usual size.

In facilities in Austria and the EU, with a provider we select together and with whom your company has a processor agreement. The server, the database holding orders and customer accounts, and the logs all sit inside the EU. We record which third-party services, such as payment providers, a CDN or a newsletter tool, may process data elsewhere, and we supply the technical details for your privacy notice.

Your company pays the provider directly for the server. Migration and ongoing management are billed at €110 per hour plus VAT or included in a Start, Business or Premium service plan. The migration itself comes with a fixed price agreed before we begin.
